Abbey played volleyball throughout high school on both JV and Varsity teams with the Jaguars from 2015 – 2018. In which they had very competitive records and won silver in the very first HSPN East Coast Nationals tournament in 2018. In 2018 she led her team in blocks and she received the all tournament award for NCHEAC. She also played with various club teams during the off seasons including NCYVL, Triangle Volleyball Club , and Wilson Elite where she was again coached by Lindsey Sutton. Abbey was recruited by a college but decided to stay local where God called her to be. In that time she has assisted with occasional Jaguars practices and stays involved in the sport. Abbey is attending ECU and plans to become a Highschool teacher and volleyball coach. Her love for nurturing young talent and desire to encourage and inspire young athletes is what has led her to coaching. She is very excited to assistant coach this season with a head coach she has always look upto and with girls with so much potential.

Kat Strickland
Junior Varsity Head Coach
Kat became a member of the Jaguars family at 9 years old and has had a passion for volleyball ever since. During her 9 seasons as a Jaguar – Kat was named 8x team captain, 3x All-Tournament, 2x MVP, and All-Conference once. She began competing at the club level her freshman year of high school and played for NCYVL for one season and Wilson Elite for three seasons. Kat played alongside Coach Lydia for 7 years, Coach Abbey for 4 years, and trained under Coach Lindsey for 3 years. Her senior year of high school she was recruited as a setter by NCCAA DI Piedmont International University (now called Carolina University), NCAA DIII Mary Baldwin University, and NJCAA Region 10 DII Davidson-Davie College. Rather than accepting an offer, she attended Wake Tech where she acted as the women’s volleyball team manager. Her junior year of college she transferred to Carolina University, where she had originally been recruited, and played 2 seasons as a DS. During her time as a Bruin, the team was crowned the 2022 NCCAA DI Regional Champion for a chance to compete at Nationals in Branson, Missouri. Kat graduated from Carolina University in December of 2023 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She currently works as a Regulatory Affairs Documentation Specialist. “This is a very full circle moment for me. Growing from a former Jaguars player to now training the next generation is a huge opportunity. Being able to coach alongside some of the people that helped shaped me into the player and person that I am today makes it even more special. Once a Jaguar, Always a Jaguar!”
Leah Fisher
Middle School Head Coach
Leah started playing Jaguars at the age of 14. Though she started playing at an older age than most, she quickly developed a love and passion for the sport. From then on, she played volleyball year-round. She continued to play Jaguars from 2018 to 2022. When the Jaguars were off-season, she played pickup with her sisters or played in Garner. She also played two seasons of 18U club. No matter how much fun she had on her other teams, the Jaguars were her home. After she graduated, Leah coached as a middle school assistant and returned this season to coach as head. Her goal as a Jaguars coach is to guide the players through the same lessons, experiences, and friendships she got to have for all those years. When she’s not playing or coaching volleyball, Leah works as a barista in a local coffee shop and takes classes at Wake Tech. Her plan is to transfer to a university and become a graphic designer.
Rebekah Guy
JV Coach
Rebekah has an undeniable love for volleyball and the Jaguars! She has been around the Jaguars program since it was founded when she was around the age of 10. This was her first exposure to the sport and she hasn’t looked back since. She attended Appalachian State University from 2016-2020 receiving a BFA in Studio Art. After she moved back to Johnston County she was reconnected with the Jaguars. This will be her third season on the coaching
staff. In that time she has coached our Middle School and JV Maroon teams. It has since
become a passion of hers to not only help players develop skill, but to instill in them a love for
the game. She believes the game of volleyball is not only a physical competition with others and even oneself, but is a firm believer in its capability to develop unique and positive relationships with teammates and coaches that last a lifetime. She believes the Jaguars spirit is achieved through instilling this acronym into her players: as a Jaguar we look for… Joyful Attitudes, never Giving Up, Always Ready to Serve – Go JAGUARS!
